,the green shaded area is the boundary of Andredsweald the 'impassible forest' as described by the Anglo Saxon Chronicles.

Total Population of the 312 Domesday Villages in 1086AD shown is 10796 This would equate to a Fyrd(national service) of approximately 584 soldiers.
Please Note that the estimate for the Fyrd is based on 6% of the
