The plotted data is an extract from the Open Domesday Book.
The key to the colours are to the lower right as you can see most of the 'wasted' villages start from the Bexhill area and progress inland
to the boundary of Andredsweald the 'impassible forest' as described bu the Anglo Saxon Chronicles.

This would equate to a Fyrd(national service) of approximately 4672 soldiers.
