⚜️ William, Count of Évreux — Normandy Holdings (1066)
William of Évreux (d. 1118), Count of Évreux, member of the House of Normandy. Son of Count Richard of Évreux and grandson of Archbishop Robert of Rouen. Second cousin to Duke William.1

- Succession: Succeeded his father Richard c.1067, though appears as count in records from early 1066 (possibly anachronistic).2
- Capital: Évreux (Mediolanum Aulercorum), principal castle and administrative centre. Refurbished Roman ruins, later destroyed.3
- Ship contribution: Contributed 80 ships to Duke William's invasion fleet in 1066 — one of the largest contributions.4
- Hastings: One of the few recorded companions of Duke William at the Battle of Hastings.5
2. Castle and fortifications
Évreux Castle: Principal comital seat. Following Duke William's death, William and his wife Helvise ejected the ducal garrison and razed the donjon.6

✝️ Abbey of Saint Martin, Troarn: William and his wife Helvise donated lands.7
Monastery at Noyon: Founded with counsel from Roger, Abbot of St Evroul. Church consecrated to St Mary laid out in 1108.8
⚰️ Fontenelle Abbey (St Wandrille): Burial place; interred beside his father.9
4. Succession
Amaury III de Montfort: Died without children; succeeded by his sister's son, Amaury de Montfort.10
