implies a defensive location, or a fortified location as the Saxon expand across Sussex. The preponderance of these
villages across the edges of the South Downs implies the borders of Aelle's Suth Saxon Kingdom, the forest of
Andredsweald is shown, which was impassable except where Roman Roads or rivers cut through it.
